Consider the first four Jethro Tull albums, from their late ’60s debut “This Was” through ‘s “Aqualung”. One of the all-time cornerstones of Progressive Jethgo and Prog Folk, let alone rock in general.
Not everyone will know what I mean when I say that, but I like to promote the glory of Chipotle when I have the opportunity.
TAAB is a truly magical experience. Side 2 takes a short diversion into avant-garde, stream-of-consciousness musings, then returns with a vengeance ‘in the clear white circles of morning wonder’.
Let’s continue Part 2 of “Thick”. Although not entirely digestible in one sitting – I usually jethroo problems to maintain attention around the middle of the side 2 – the album is an ultimate classic progressive rock record that was hardly ever beaten. Or, perhaps, any of us. Not that due to the fact that this album hit Newspaoer Chart 1, but it’s a classic prog album. And so the song presses on going from lyrics sections to jams without ever being boring.
It’s tempting to look at this as Ian’s family tree he being the man of peace, I supposebut I’ll merely advance the theory without lending it my full support.
It’s still a mystery to me how a band like this could make such a risky decision that in result payed off so well. Cant’ you just see them English seashores? The whole thing builds up and climaxes masterfully, made even more vibrant by the band’s dynamic and heavy performance. Instead ‘Brick’ is a masterpiece of musical virtuosity and outstanding lyrical content. It’s true that the second side is not quite as good as the first, but the difference in quality is quite negligible really, and doesn’t take away from the album too much.
Number bricck bids and bid amounts may be slightly out of date. It’s a truly enthralling listen.
The only thing I ever regretted is that they never played it live as a whole, but recently I heard a bootleg pointing out that they might have done so, but the sound was just horrendous. Complete with cover – a lot of work was put jdthro this amazing apparatus.
As the LP had to be turned over there is an enforced hiatus in the music, but it’s hardly noticeable with the CD. As for musicianship, all musicians demonstrate their capabilities at their fullest, I think.
THICK AS A BRICK
It’s the kind of album you can spin on regularly without being bored: The only awkward moment of the album comes as the band rushes to reprise the main theme, reintroduced without subtlety and in a rush as though they realised they were runing out of vinyl. A very controlled but spirited jam follows, kept in check by the efficient rhythm section newepaper Barlow on drums and the steady Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond on bass.
Sorry I can’t hear it not even if I put my personal taste aside and try to be objective. Truly news;aper work of genius!
JETHRO TULL Thick As A Brick reviews
The biggest standout is, of course, the terrific flute solo around 37 minutes in, but that’s hardly the only standout. A more cohesive sound would have made this the masterpiece I would like to have found in Thick as a Brick.
An album in which everyone, everyone, plays his guts out, over and over again. There is almost nothing thck it I would change. This is a reissue version unknown date with the blue and white Chrysalis record labels and it is the gatefold album cover but has NO newspaper inserts. Because it’s a sympathetic and pleasant genre of prog.
After all, there is nothing better to evoke laughter than hearing a good joke. They simply dash through the proceedings with an unrelenting energy and passion I have rarely heard from them.
I try to explain neqspaper I mean: And none of the epic feel is lost thanks to John’s sturdy keyboard backbone.

The group ran through two weeks of rehearsals using The Rolling Stones ‘ basement studio in Bermondsey. He did this to win a contest sponsored by a mock organisation called the Society for Literary Advancement and Gestation yes, that’s right It comes among the greatest of ironies that an album poking fun at the pretension of the prog rock world turns out to be one of the scene’s most loved masterpieces. A live take would be much more enjoyable and relevant.
Mood and tempo continue to shift. Well, after all histories, tales, uethro and deeds, it’s time to rate for not becoming “the bad dream I had today”.
