She’s so everything that she actually deserves a YoSrJesmeSo set of jokes. This was nothing more than the long rant of a disgruntled employee. Sister Jesme suffered it too. Books have been a source of knowledge for many centuries.
I hope the church instead of denying the charges and accusations, try to find out the guilty and make it safe for others. But these joys were clouded by the troubles she faced. Like you and me she too works and faces office politics. Though, a sensitive piece of writing, at times, Sr Jesme seems to be a little too sensitive about things.
Thanks for an honest review. I thought the book got weaker towards the end, she didn’t include enough information from a nonbiased standpoint to explain the way people were treating her. On the front cover of AMEN atleast in the one I have you notice a line on the top, it starts with the words, ‘a taboo breaking From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I do not doubt her attempt to be open and honest Heartbreaking but nothing stunning.
But still, good read. You have been loggedin via facebook. So how did she see it with her family in — a full 8 years later? They tell them that she is mentally unstable.
It would be very difficult to ignore them. She is jjesme that they will force her to come back and eventually prove that she sistet mentally unstable. Want to Read saving…. First is, how is Amen as an suster medium and second is the subject matter. Amen is just pages but what hits you is the frankness and sincerity of narration. As suggested by a friend, this book did tell me about how missionary functions but it as the title says, just an autobiography.
Also, the events suddenly jump into our face without proper explanation. Nuns are at the helm of the Christian educational institutions and make huge monies inter alia by capitation fees for seat allocations.
There was corruption by way of donations for college seats; sexual relations between some priests and nuns and between nuns; class distinctions whereby the cheduthies or poorer and less-educated sisters did menial jobs; and a wide gap between comforts and facilities enjoyed by the priests and nuns.
